John L. Goodman

North Carolina

Several Goodman lines migrated into and through NC from the early 1700s through late 1700s, and into TN, then the western part of NC. One line mentioned elsewhere was that of the William/Henry Goodmans, earlier of Nansemond and Isle of Wight, VA. The other line also mentioned, was that of Benjamin Goodman and his wife Marya Williams, who came to Granville Co., NC with the Williams and Henderson families from Louisa Co., VA, and whose ancestors resided in early New Kent Co., VA. These two lines may have spawned from a common ancestry, in Surry and/or New Kent Co., VA. However, that connection cannot yet be proven.

Other Goodmans in the Carolinas were original emigrants, as noted in the Emigrants page on this site.
