John Anslem Goodman

John Anslem Goodman was b. 19 April 1860 in Knox Co., IL. He removed to Kansas with his father Socrates and mother Mary (Reynolds) Goodman. His wife Estella Fenton was b. in 1875. According to family oral tradition, John and Estella supposedly met in the wagon train on the way to KS, probably in the late 1870's, while Estella was just a small child. Zalmon Fenton and his wife Maria/Mariah (Pond) Fenton were in Centralia, Franklin Co., KS by the 1880 census. John Goodman and Estella Fenton married in 1893 in Grey Co., KS.

John Anslem Goodman was a rancher and farmer in Kansas for all of his life, until the 1930 Depression wiped him out, and he lost the ranch. Still, he lived to be 90, and died in 1950 in Garden City, KS. Estella died in Garden City, KS in 1964, at age 88.
