This section describes the ancient roots of the Goodman name, and the first Goodmans of Wales and England. primarily the first known of this line, Edward Goodman, of Ruthin, Denbighshire, N. Wales, and his issue and descendants. This is certainly the most historically prominent and well documented Goodman line of Wales and England, and due to its wealth and influence in Colonial times, is probably the primary source of many of the prominent Goodmans of Colonial America.
It also introduces some of the more significant Goodman and related families of Wales, England, and Colonial America, many of which were also of Welsh descent, and some also from the Ruthin / Denbighshire area.
